By using Waltra, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. What Waltra is
Waltra is a household expense tracking application. It is a manual logging tool — you enter your own expenses. Waltra does not connect to your bank account, does not access your financial accounts, and does not move or hold money. All financial figures in the app are entered by you and are for personal tracking purposes only.
2. Acceptance of terms
By creating an account or using the app, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.
3. Your account
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
You must not share your account with people outside your household
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
Notify us immediately at support@waltra.app if you believe your account has been compromised
3a. One account, one household
Each Waltra account (email address) can belong to only one household at a time. If you want to be part of more than one household — for example, your own home and a shared property with friends — you will need to create a separate account with a different email address for each household. Switching an existing account to a new household will remove it from its previous household.
4. 👥 Household roles
Each household has two roles:
Admin — the creator of the household, or any member granted Admin status. Admins can invite members, remove members, grant Admin to others, and manage household settings. A household can have multiple Admins.
Member — anyone who joined via invite code. Members can log, edit, and delete expenses but cannot manage other members.
When an Admin removes a member: they lose access immediately; their past expenses remain in the household; they are redirected to create or join a new household. The Admin role may be granted to any member at any time.
5. 💰 Budgets & savings goals
Waltra allows you to set a monthly household budget and per-category spending limits. Budget data is shared with all household members.
Budget progress resets on the 1st of each calendar month
Category budgets track spending per category with alerts at 80% and 100%
Savings goals are personal tracking targets — they do not move or hold real money and are not connected to any financial account
Waltra is not responsible for financial decisions made based on data shown in the app
6. 🔁 Recurring expenses
Recurring expenses are automatically logged on their scheduled day each month
You are responsible for keeping recurring expenses accurate and up to date
Waltra does not guarantee exact timing of automatic entries in all time zones
7. 🎙️ Voice entry
Voice entry uses your device's built-in speech recognition (Apple or Google). Waltra does not store audio.
The transcribed text is processed by Anthropic's Claude AI to extract expense details. You consent to this processing at account creation. This consent is stored with a timestamp. You can effectively withdraw consent by not using voice features.
Household AI and shared data: AI consent is per-user and controls whether your device initiates AI processing. It does not prevent other household members from using Waltra AI, which queries shared household expense data that all members have access to. If you do not want your expenses visible to any household member, you should leave the household.
Microphone permission is required. On iOS, the microphone indicator may remain active briefly after use — this is an iOS system behaviour outside Waltra's control.
We are not responsible for inaccuracies in voice-parsed expense data. Always review before saving.
8. 📷 Receipt scanning
Receipt images are sent to Anthropic's Claude AI for processing under a signed Data Processing Agreement and immediately discarded — they are never stored. You consent to this processing at account creation.
Scanning is limited to 10 receipts per household per calendar month, resetting on the 1st
AI extraction may be inaccurate. Always review before saving.
Exchange rates for foreign currency receipts are fetched from a third-party API and may differ from your bank's rate
8a. 📤 Data export
You can export your household expense data as a CSV file at any time from the Expenses tab. This export contains all expense records visible to your household and is generated on your device. Waltra does not retain copies of exported files.
8b. 🔔 Push notifications & emails
Push notifications — optional expense reminders sent via your browser's notification system. You can enable or disable these in Profile → Settings → Expense reminders. On Android, notifications require explicit browser permission.
Monthly summary emails — an optional monthly email summarising your household spending. Toggle in Profile → Settings → Monthly email. Every summary email includes a one-click unsubscribe link.
Marketing emails — occasional product updates and tips, sent only with your explicit consent. You can withdraw consent at any time in Profile → Settings → Marketing emails, or by clicking unsubscribe in any marketing email.
Transactional emails (account creation, deletion confirmation) are sent regardless of marketing preferences as they are necessary for the service.
9. Account deletion
You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account
A confirmation screen is shown before deletion completes — you are informed that your account and all data will be permanently deleted, and that you can create a new account at any time in the future
You will receive a confirmation email immediately
Your profile is removed from your household instantly
If you were the last member, all household data is deleted immediately
If other members remain, your historical expenses stay attributed to "Previous Member"
All remaining personal data is purged within 30 days
10. Subscriptions & billing
Household pricing: A Waltra Premium subscription covers your entire household. Every member of your household gets full Premium access for the cost of a single plan — you do not each need to subscribe separately. One person subscribes on behalf of the household.
Premium Monthly — £1.99/month per household. Renews automatically each month. Cancel anytime.
Premium Annual — £19.99/year per household. Renews automatically each year. Best value — saves 16% vs monthly.
Founder Gifted Premium — complimentary Premium access granted personally by the Waltra founder to selected individuals. May be permanent (no expiry) or time-limited. No payment is required. The founder reserves the right to revoke gifted access at any time.
By subscribing you authorise recurring charges to your payment method. Prices are in GBP. All transactions are processed securely via Stripe. Waltra never stores your card details.
🇮🇳 India: Payments may be processed in USD or INR. GST may apply to digital services purchased in India as required by law.
🇪🇺 EU/UK: VAT is included in displayed prices where applicable. You have a 14-day cooling-off period for digital subscriptions under the Consumer Rights Directive, unless you have already accessed the premium features.
🇺🇸 USA: Sales tax may apply in certain states. You authorise charges to your payment method on the billing cycle you select.
11. Cancellation policy
You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you retain access until then. No refunds are issued for partial billing periods. This applies worldwide except where local law provides otherwise (e.g. EU 14-day cooling-off right for new subscriptions).
12. What happens when you cancel
Your account reverts to the free plan at the end of the billing period
If your household exceeds free plan limits (e.g. more than 2 members), existing data is retained but new members cannot be added until you re-subscribe or reduce members
All your expense history remains accessible on the free plan
Premium AI features (voice entry, receipt scanning, Waltra AI) become unavailable
13. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
Use Waltra for any unlawful purpose
Attempt to reverse engineer, copy, or redistribute the app
Use automated scripts or bots to interact with the app
Share your account credentials with people outside your household
Upload content that is illegal, harmful, or violates third-party rights
14. Intellectual property
Waltra and its design, branding, and code are the property of the developer. You are granted a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app for its intended purpose. No rights are transferred to you by using the app.
15. Disclaimer of warranties
Waltra is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from loss of data. Your use of the app is at your own risk.
Waltra is not a financial advisor. Nothing in the app constitutes financial, tax, or investment advice.
16. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Waltra, including loss of data or financial loss.
🇪🇺 EU/UK consumers: Nothing in these terms affects your statutory consumer rights under applicable EU or UK law, including rights that cannot be waived by contract.
🇮🇳 India: Nothing in these terms limits rights available to you under the Consumer Protection Act 2019 or Information Technology Act 2000.
🇺🇸 USA: Some states do not allow limitation of implied warranties or consequential damages — in those states, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
17. Governing law & disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales as a default. However:
EU/EEA users — you benefit from mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence, which take precedence over this choice of law
US users — disputes may be resolved in the courts of your state of residence for consumer claims
India users — disputes may be subject to jurisdiction under Indian consumer protection law
We encourage you to contact us at support@waltra.app before pursuing any formal dispute — most issues can be resolved quickly.
18. Availability and changes
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the app at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
19. Local storage & data preferences
Waltra stores preferences (PIN hash, tutorial status, theme settings) in your browser's local storage. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers. Clearing your browser data will reset these preferences.
🔒 App PIN lock
You can set an optional 4-digit PIN to lock the app on your device. The PIN is hashed and stored locally only — it is never transmitted to our servers.
Incorrect attempts: After 3 incorrect attempts, a "Forgotten your PIN?" option appears. After 5 attempts, PIN entry is locked for 30 seconds as a security measure.
Forgot your PIN: Tap "Reset PIN & sign in again" on the lock screen. This removes your PIN from the device and signs you out. You can set a new PIN after signing back in. Your expense data is unaffected — it is stored securely in the cloud.
Change your PIN: Profile → Set App PIN at any time.
20. Referral programme
Waltra operates a referral programme allowing existing users to earn free Premium access by inviting others to sign up.
How it works: Each user receives a unique referral code. When a new user signs up using your code and creates a new household, both parties receive one month of free Premium access (30 days) — you (the referrer) earn a free month, and the new household gets a free month to try Premium before deciding whether to subscribe.
Maximum credits: There is no limit on how many friends you can refer. Each successful referral earns you one month of free Premium.
Credit stacking: Credits are added on top of any existing Premium access — they do not replace your current plan. If you are on an annual plan, credits are banked and applied when your plan renews or ends.
Eligibility: The new user must create a genuine new account and create a new household using Waltra. Referral credits are not awarded for joining an existing household. Self-referral (using your own code) is not permitted. Each new user can only apply one referral code.
Waltra reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the referral programme at any time. Credits already earned will be honoured for 12 months from the date earned.
No cash value: Referral credits have no monetary value and cannot be transferred, sold, or exchanged for cash.
